The Piecemakers Mountain Memories 9th Biennial Quilt Show is coming soon. Want to take a “scrap quilt” class? Want to have a quilt appraised? Want opportunities for a door prize, a basket filled with goodies, or a quilt? Want to enter your quilt in the show? Want to see plenty of other beautiful quilts? The show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 16, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds.

Piecemakers invites you to enter your quilts into the show. There are 10 entry categories from which to choose. Winner’s ribbons will be given to first, second and third place plus honorable mentions and as well as approximately $1200 in monetary awards. Entry forms, show rules and categories can be found just below. This year’s judge will be AQS Certified Appraiser-Quilted Textiles Candace St. Lawrence of Butler, TN.

Sign up now to take a “Scrap Quilting” class led by instructors from the Quilting Squares shop from Franklin, TN. The class is one-day only: Friday June 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pre-registration is necessary as the class is limited to 20 students and does require some fabric pre-cutting beforehand. Class fee is $35 and includes lunch and entry into the show during the break. To be one of the 20 students, call Piecemakers member Dee Martinez right away at 484-5965 to register. Shown here is an example of the completed scrap quilt.

Ever wondered about the history of that quilt you made or inherited? Certified Quilt Appraiser Cindy Stuart of Maryville, TN, will be appraising quilts on June 16 and 17 during the quilt show by prescheduled appointments only. A verbal 15-minute consultation fee is $20. A formal 30-minute appraisal is $45 and includes a legal written description that will be sent to the owner within 2 weeks of the appraisal. Both appraisal types will give you the approximate age, pattern name, and observations about the quilt. The value of the quilt is a part of the formal appraisal only. Appointments must be made in advance and are filling up. Don’t miss out. Call Piecemakers member Wava McClish now at 707-7630 or cell: 931-787-2618 to schedule an appraisal time.
This quilt show offers so many opportunities: the 2017 Opportunity Quilt (portion of which is shown at the left), door prizes, 15 gift baskets and shopping.
